Environment and Forestry Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko has called on staff from the ministry to ensure they provide prompt , responsive and efficient service to the public as value for their tax .
The CS said today that the clients who are members of the public expect and deserve efficient , prudent and accountability from the limited resources allocated to government institutions.
Speaking today at KICC during the vetting of the 16th Cycle Performance Contract for the 2019/2020 financial year, the CS underscored the need for public servants to be responsible accountable and efficient in service delivery .
During the occasion the CS said that the ministry will phase out the use single use plastic bottles in the ministry and it’s agencies by June 2020 as part of its performance target.
Tobiko said the ministry will lead by example in reducing use of single use plastics bottles in the country and moreso in government institutions. Drinking water will be provided in Water dispensers .

Kenya Dept will establish 5 automated Hydro- Meteorological Stations for early warning system in Tana River catchment area , automatic weather stations in 6 counties.
The ministry will also upscale its efforts to increase the tree cover to 10% through massive tree planting among other conservations measures.
Other performance indicators will be derived from different legislations and the ministry’s programs and projects.
The purpose of the exercise review was to enhance clarity of performance indicators , their descriptions , measurements as well as accelerate the realization of government priorities including the big 4 agenda.
