NCCRC – National Climate Change Resource Centre
The National Climate Change Resource Centre (NCCRC) is under the Climate Change Directorate in the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MENR). The NCCRC is the national repository for climate change information and houses the Climate Change Directorate offices. The centre’s facilities include a specialised library with physical and digital climate change resources, a state of the art amphitheatre, training rooms with teleconferencing, webinar facilities and exhibition space to showcase climate smart technologies and innovations.
The Centre also incorporates the use of green concepts such as solar power, biogas and water recycling. It is open to the public and provides opportunities for awareness creation, dissemination of information and knowledge sharing on climate change. It also hosts the Kenya Climate Change Knowledge Portal. The web-based repository allows access to climate change information and provides a platform for knowledge transfer and raising public awareness on climate change and related pertinent issues. Strengthening climate change information and knowledge management is recognized in Kenya’s key national documents, such as the National Climate Change Action Plan (NCCAP), Climate Change Knowledge Management Strategy and the Climate Change Act 2016 which emphasizes the importance of developing mechanisms for climate change knowledge management and access to information.
