
INNOVATIONS AWARDED AT UNEA-4
In line with the Fourth United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-4) theme; of ‘’Innovative solutions for environmental challenges and sustainable consumption and production’’, The National Environment Trust Fund (NETFUND) supported Green Innovations, were recognized during a reception hosted by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, on behalf of the Kenya Government during the on-going Fourth meeting of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA 4) .
The event, that was held at the United Nations grounds at Gigiri, saw the founder of Continental Renewable Energy Ltd and the CEO’s of Funkidz Ltd; Ujuzi Kilimo solutions Ltd; Qtron Industries Ltd; Trace Eco solutions Ltd and Ukulima Tech Ltd, awarded for their passion in creating unique green initiatives.
The Green Innovation Award seeks to promote green growth and address the impacts of climate change, through efforts that contribute to a low carbon and climate resilient development pathway. Transitioning to a low carbon climate resilient development pathway can address future risks, thereby improving Kenya’s ability to prosper under a changing climate, while reducing the emissions intensity of a growing economy.
The function was presiding over by the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed, who represented the Cabinet Secretary.
